You can tell me how you feel, even if it's going to let me down...

So Christmas is over, and my Colorado trip will be over soon as well. I'm heading home on Friday, and I feel that I've accomplished exactly what I intended to do while I was here. I've completely relaxed. I've been hanging around the house for most of the time, just watching movies on the sattelite TV and stuffing myself with cheesey, greasy comfort food that my mother is so good at making. I've finished the book I was reading, and I've started another, which I hope to finish by the time I get back. I've also spent some time with my family while I've been here which is really nice.

The night before Christmas Eve, I think it was Sunday, my cousin Sean Called me up and asked if I wanted to hang out and maybe go to a bar. My cousin is a really good guy, and always tries to hang out with me as much as possible while I'm out here, which is weird for me because when I'm out here, I mostly just want to sit around by myself or with my parents. Anyway, I said "Sure" and he drove the thirty or so minutes out to my parents' house.

Sean is a big guy. I think he's somewhere in the neighborhood of 6'8". This must have scared the shit out of my dog, because as soon as Sean walked into the house, she bit him. Hard. She broke the skin on his knuckle and it bled like crazy. We hung out with my mom for a little bit while she fixed up his hand and had a nice conversation. When we went out to his car, it was sitting in the driveway, still running. I opened the door to get in, only to see three cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon on the passenger seat, and an open bottle of some unidentified beer in the cupholder. I shoved the cans over and laughed. Colorado is a weird place.

While we were driving he did most of the talking, as I am not very good at making conversation. He talked a lot about the trouble he and his sister are having. I guess they've been fighting like crazy, like really crazy. I guess it got to the point of a physical altercation between Sean and his sister's boyfriend. I'm not really sure how all of this family drama got started so I just listened and pretended to know what he was talking about. He also talked a lot about his girlfriend or ex-girlfriend. He still wasn't very clear with any of this stuff. I'm fairly sure he was pretty drunk, but still I listened and chimed in when necessary. While he was talking I started to notice that we were getting on the interstate. My parents live about a half hour drive out of Denver, so I figured we would just go to a bar in the area. I asked him where we were going and he told me we were going to the bar he works at downtown.

The bar is called The Bank. I'm not exactly sure what Sean does there, but I wasn't really curious enough to ask. The bar is a pretty a cool place. The guys that were working there didn't seem like complete douchebags, and there were a decent amount of people there for ten p.m. on a Sunday night. There wasn't much in the way of attractive girls there, but the drinks were free, so I wasn't complaining. It's not like I would have actually spoken with any of them anyways. I am fairly socially inept. We hung out for a couple hours, talking to one of the cooks at the bar. I think his name was Mike. He was completely drunk, and he was telling stories about how much his life sucked at the moment. My cousin was drinking a lot of whiskey with beers, and telling stories, the validity of which I cannot confirm, about dealing drugs and pointing guns at people and shit. He claims to have given ODB the cocaine that killed him. Who am I to doubt? After Sean demolished a plate of potato skins with extra bacon and a plate of fried mushrooms, we played a game of fooseball and headed home. Sean drank another beer on the drive home.

Christmas Eve was was pretty fun. My mom made dinner at home and my aunt and uncle and cousins came over. Dinner was fantastic and I drank lot of the expensive beer my parents bought. My mom asked me to go to church with them at nine p.m. that night, and I agreed, just to make her happy. I was pretty drunk by the time we left for church, but I'm not sure if anyone knew. I spent most of the time during the service checking out girls. I'm a piece of shit.

Christmas morning was pretty cool. I woke up and it was snowing, and it ended up snowing all day. I got a pretty nice camera from my parents, as well as an assortment of DVDs. I also got a new screenwriting book from my dad, which I really appreciated. After opening presents, I proceeded to the basement where I watched the first disc of season one of Arrested Developement, which I followed up with a screening of Fargo. I took a few pictures on my new camera, that will not be developed for a little while, as well as a few on my dad's camera, but mostly I just sat in the basement watching movies.

We ate dinner that night at my aunt Paulette's house. It was pretty fun, and the food was pretty good. Also, more free beer. I'm sure I'm gaining a ton of weight on this trip, with all the free food and beer just sitting there waiting for me to consume it. At my Aunt's house, my cousin Erin's husband, Justin, gave me a painting he did. Justin is a a really big, really funny guy, who also happens to be deaf. His paintings are really good and really interesting, but not necessarily the kind of stuff I'm into. Never the less, I was really appreciative of his gift to me. After dinner we sat around talking about UFOs and stuff, weird Christmas conversation I know. We headed home and it finally stopped snowing on the way.

I spent all day today watching movies and tv. I'm sitting here listening to Michael Cera's band, The Long Goodbye and watching Futurama on mute. Futurama will not be on Adult Swim anymore after this week. I've been staying up ridiculously late, because I've vowed to myself that I would not adjust to the time while I'm here. So I've been waking up pretty late and wasting most of my days. I've got a lot to do tomorrow though, so I'll probably try to wake up a little earlier than I have been. I have to pay for my classes this semester (Still excited about starting school), do the paperwork for my archaeology job, and get some hiking boots for the same reason. I'm really excited to get home.
