My trip so far...

So I'm spending the week at my Parents' house in Colorado, and I'm pretty glad to be out of town. My living situation is really getting to me, more than it ever has before. If it weren't for my financial situation, there is no way I could put up with it. Things should be turning around for me in the next month or so, as I will be doing some archaeology with my dad in the San Diego area. I think I'll only get abut two weeks of work in before school starts, but It's full time and I'll be getting twelve dollars an hour, plus a signing bonus. I'm really excited about this coming semester for a lot of different reasons. I'm starting to blather, but the point is, I have an exciting month coming up after this relaxing trip.

My journey yesterday went surprisingly smooth. It was a relatively uneventful trip. I was hoping to have bought a camera before I started the trip but my plans fell through, and by the time another camera was offered to mefor the trip by my friend Keith, I didn't have room in my bags to bring it safely. This would be much more interesting with some pictures from the actual trip.

Keith told me on Friday night that he could give me a ride to the airport in Santa Barbara, but yesterday morning it took me a few tries to reach him. I got a little nervous and thought that I might get to the airport a little late, but I ended up actually being a little early.

I did a lot of people watching. When I first entered the lobby of gate two, where I was to wait for my first plane, the only people I saw were a young looking couple who looked vaguely familiar and their four small children. I can't imagine being responsible for four other lives. I can't even really count on myself to be responsible for my own life. I was very worried that my flight to Las Vegas was going to be a screaming baby hellride. The room started filling up very quickly. soon it started to look like there would be too many people for the small plane I was to take, but then I realized that there was more than one plane leaving from the gate. I felt stupid. I kept exchanging awkward glances with a fairly attractive hispanic girl. I also kept looking at a thick blonde girl's behind. I can't help it. There were a lot of small children in the room and I was getting more and more nervous about the possible havoc that they could wreak on the plane. I would not be able to block any of it out, as my iPod decided to die the day before I left.

The flight to Las Vegas ended up being very peaceful. The babies decided to pass out. I sat directly across the aisle from the attractive hispanic girl, but I couldn't muster up enough courage to say anything to her. The most interesting part of the flight was this pushy flight attendant, that kept insisting that the man sitting next to me take his headphones off to listen to the flight safety presentation. She also stole my ginger ale before I had consumed half of it.

The Las Vegas airport is wholly unimpresive. I had a two hour layover, so I figured I could get some reading in or check up on the internet as I so often do. I ended up waiting in line for a little more than an hour. I took a train type thing to the actual gate, that gave me a pretty cool view of the all the casinos on the strip. Again, I wished I had a camera. Near the gate I ordered some chicken tenders at Burger King, which were served to me rather roughly by an older woman with a gravely voice and one eye. Again, I wish I had a camera. I barely had time to eat before we boarded, but somehow I managed to make a few internet updates.

The flight to Denver was really boring. I kept checking out a young, blonde flight attendant. She was nothing to get very excited about, but I always find someone to objectify and she was the only likely candidate.

Colorado is cold. I stood outside waiting for my parents for a while it was cold. Colorado is cold. It turns out that I was waiting on the completely wrong side of the building. Colorado is cold. I finally found my parents and on the way to their house, we stopped at an international noodle restaurant. To my amazement I was greeted by a midget at the counter. Yes, I said midget. I don't really care what the prefered nomenclature is. She was nice enough, but had she actually brought my food to the table, I would have had reservations about eating it. I am a piece of shit, I know this. On a high note, I'm pretty sure I got checked out by a couple of trashy looking blonde girls.

Since I arrived at my parents' house I have not left. I've been lounging around in a huge, clean, actual house. With sattelite TV and everything! I've been eating all of their good food, drinking all their sodas and beers. It's been really nice to sit around and relax in a place doesn't feel like it's making you filthier by the second. I went outside for a little bit today and took a few pictures with my dad's pictures.

My mom and dad's front porch.

The view from their back yard.

View from "My room's" balcony.

This place is fucking cool.

There are a few more. I'll either post them here when I get home, or I'll make a Flickr or Photobucket account. I'll update later during my vacation as I see fit. Unless nothing interesting happens.
